Educational and Experience Requirement
Associates degree in related field. Three years related experience or experience in a related field. Certifications may be required. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.
Nature & Purpose of Position
To provide skilled expertise, advice, control, and management of technology purchases for the campus.
Works with clients and technicians to identify, obtain quotes, order, and deliver required hardware. Serves as a liaison and provides training and support to clients and staff on technical issues. Creates and maintains procedure manuals, technical and process documentation. Analyzes campus technology needs, researches and determines the appropriate configurations to meet those needs. Prepares quotes for campus technology purchases in accordance with user’s needs, funds, and within the state and federal guidelines. Monitors campus technology inventory to ensure adequate supplies and items are on hand for routine functions as well as emergencies. Conducts annual inventory audit in conjunction with university procedures and policies. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Position requires a strong understanding of information processing principles and practices, an in-depth technical knowledge of network and computer operating systems, proven project planning and management experience. Exceptional analytical, conceptual, and problem solving abilities, superior written and oral communication skills and leadership ability is needed. Must have ability to present ideas in a user-friendly language and to be able to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment. Must possess excellent communication skills for interaction with other University departments and outside vendors. Requires a demonstrated ability to establish congenial work relationships with diverse groups and individuals. Required to be on duty as needed during emergencies, operational failures, and peak periods. Position requires driving and operating a university vehicle, therefore, a valid Texas driver license and driving record acceptable to the University’s insurance carrier is required. Position requires incumbent to be on call 24/7. Special procedures sometimes require extended hours. Some travel is required.
