Career Coach (Part-Time, Multiple Positions Available)
Basic Functions: Serve as a career coach and member of the Campus Engagement team in the Knowlton Center for Career Exploration. Provide individual and group coaching toward career discernment, internships, employment, graduate/ professional school application, and related goals. Assist with innovative career programming to ensure that all students are prepared for life after Denison. Work collaboratively with Knowlton Center staff in program planning and delivery and collaborate with faculty, staff and students to help build engagement with the Center.
Essential Job Functions: * Serve as career coach focusing on self-assessment, career exploration, decision-making, and professional development skills. * Develop, plan, and manage programs and workshops for Denison students to assist them in becoming Career Ready. * Assist in the overall planning of special programs, events and related workshops. * Coordinate various programs and services of the Knowlton Center for Career Exploration; as appropriate, accompany Denison students on out-of-region travel programs. * Build and maintain strategic relationships and collaborate with key constituents (colleagues, faculty, staff, students, parents, alumni, employers) to provide targeted messaging to students. * Collaborate with the Operations Team to publicize opportunities via calendars, Handshake, websites, social media, listserves, student groups, and academic departments. * Conduct program assessment and assist with reporting by designing surveys, creating metrics, and creating reports. * Occasional travel to meet with organization leaders, employers, and other partners to cultivate relationships. * Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree. * Minimum of 4 years of full-time professional experience. * Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills. * Experience with program development and implementation. * Excellent administrative and organization skills with attention to detail. * Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. * Analytical reasoning and problem-solving skills. * Strong work ethic.
Preferred Qualifications: * We welcome candidates with experience in any field, but are particularly interested in those with background in the following functions/sectors: Arts & Entertainment, Education, Finance & Accounting, Health Care, International Affairs, Retail Management, Sales, or Technology. * Advanced Degree in Business, Human Resources, Student Personnel, Counseling and Guidance, Higher Education, or other academic discipline, or related field. * Career/academic advising, staffing, recruiting, or job development experience or experience coaching young professionals on careers and/or professional development. * Public speaking and/or workshop presentation experience. * Experience with advising on resumes, interviewing and job search strategies/correspondence. * Experience working with students, faculty and staff in higher education.
