Job description

Duties: The Research Specialist A position in our laboratory for stem cell biology will serve as laboratory animal manager and will assist in studies addressing the role of newly identified genes in contributing to stem cell maintenance and function using cell culture and mouse models. Techniques in mouse husbandry, genotyping, recombinant DNA, molecular & cellular biology will be utilized in this supervised research. The position requires a high degree of professionalism in working with laboratory personnel, strong communication skills, organizational skills, and a fundamental interest in scientific discovery. This position includes opportunities for authorship on resulting research publications

Qualifications: The successful applicant must have a high degree of self-motivation, strong organizational skills, and enthusiasm for biomedical research. A bachelors degree in Biology or equivalent is necessary, preferably from a top-tier University. Required qualifications include basic experience in common cell and molecular biology techniques (Nucleic acid purification, PCR, electrophoresis, cell culture), basic computer skills (Excel, Word), and experience in mouse husbandry (handling and breeding). Advanced skills in mouse genetic manipulation and stem cell culture would be preferred but are not necessary. On-the-job training will be provided for additional necessary techniques. No work experience is required, but candidates with undergraduate research experience in a laboratory environment will be given preference
