Senior Content Strategist - Design/Civitas Art Director
This position will develop visual conceptual solutions for a full range of creative/marketing ideas that tell Central stories to external constituencies including prospective students, families, alumni, donors, corporations, foundations and friends of the college. The position also serves as the art director of the college's quarterly alumni magazine.
Emphasizing integration of the work across multi-media platforms to accomplish specific goals, the successful candidate will have the ability to generate and develop purposeful content in a variety of formats. The candidate will support social media platforms, promotional materials, websites, email marketing, features, imaging, video, and design in service of many different audiences. The ability to develop meaningful content and artfully weave in visual messaging consistent with Central's robust branding is essential.
Reporting to the director of integrated marketing communications and media, this position offers opportunities to promote the college to external audiences on multiple platforms to advance institutional priorities. Central has initiated a new strategic planning process for 2018 while simultaneously completing the goals of the very successful 2012 strategic plan, which currently guides the college's communication priorities and strategies.
This position represents part of a cross-functional team of communication professionals and works closely with advancement and enrollment team members.
A minimum of a bachelor's degree in art, graphic design or a related field is required. Minimum eight years of successful experience in communications, enrollment, advancement, public relations, social media, design, web, editing, or news is highly desirable. Experience preferred in a higher education, nonprofit or agency setting.
The successful candidate should have advanced layout and typography skills; be creative; possess a problem-solving, interactive approach to design; operate in an organized manner; and have the ability to deliver aligned content to meet the needs and interests of college priorities. The successful candidate will have a thorough understanding of the overall creative process and techniques, including conceptualization, design, copy development, production artwork, pre-press, computer graphics, printing technologies and web/internet design/software/technologies.
In addition, the successful candidate, will have an interest in and curiosity for all aspects of education and a dedication to promoting the college through developing excellent relationships with faculty, staff, students, volunteers, and colleagues. Candidate must also be fluent in Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office.
The successful candidate will have the demonstrated ability to work both cooperatively and independently; will have expertise in graphic design with an eye for new trends and creativity; will demonstrate excellent organization and prioritization skills; will possess consistent and clear verbal communication skills; and will have the capacity to work collaboratively with key personnel at the college and the larger Central family.
