About The American University in Cairo:

Job Description:

The School of Sciences and Engineering at the American University in Cairo, the Department of Physics invites applicants for full time faculty positions at the rank of assistant or associate professor. Highly accomplished applicants may qualify for the rank of full professor. Appointments start Fall 2018. The positions are renewable, based on performance after a thorough review with excellent performance evaluation by the end of the first year.


The successful candidates will be committed to excellence in teaching undergraduate courses at basic and advanced levels as well as graduate courses. The successful candidates are encouraged to develop courses in their area of expertise. Wide teaching experience as well as the ability of teaching freshman courses and associated laboratories in an integrated way (i.e. studio classroom) are highly desirable. They are also expected to have a proven record of scholarship, grantsmanship, and conduct high quality research in their areas of expertise. The candidates must hold doctoral degree in physics or related field from reputable international University with solid research record proportional to the stage of their academic careers.

Additional Information:

The Department of Physics is actively pursuing academic quality in its priority areas of solar energy, currently a minor, nanoscience, and photonics. However, exceptional candidates in other areas will be considered.
