Job description

Savannah State University seeks qualified applicants for Satellite Library Manager.  This part time position (32 hours per week) manages all aspects of the Satellite Library with a focus on serving first and second year students.  Provides research assistance to students; supervises satellite staff.  Provides library instruction; assesses the activities of the satellite library.  Develops outreach initiatives to faculty and academic departments; schedules one-on-one Research Consultations between students and liaison librarians.  Plans and participates in workshops and library instruction; supervises document delivery services of research resources to students; attends departmental and library meetings and training sessions.  May be directed to perform job related tasks other than those specifically delineated in this description.


Master’s degree (ALA accredited) in Library Science or Library and Information Science.  Excellent analytical, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills; one to three years of experience in reference and/or instruction in an academic library setting.  Ability to work cooperatively and pay attention to detail; demonstrated research and computer skills (experience with general application software such as Word, Access, Excel, Publisher, and PowerPoint.  Must have a proactive and friendly customer service attitude (pleasant, approachable, patient); dependability essential.  Background and/or credit check may be required.
