Assistant/Associate/Full Professor - Early Childhood Special Education

Job description


The School of Education of Hunter College-CUNY invites applications for a tenure track position in Early Childhood Special Education (birth through grade 2) effective September 1, 2018. Appointment to this position will be at the Assistant, Associate, or Full rank based on previous experience. The college places a high priority on teaching excellence and research with an expectation that the candidate will also be active in their professional field.

Applicants will be expected to: teach graduate courses that span the birth through grade 2 age range; conduct research and publish scholarly writing in early childhood special education; supervise students in field placements; develop and maintain relationships with early childhood special education programs across a variety of early childhood settings; advise graduate students; serve on department, school of education, college, and university committees; develop training and/or research grant proposals; and demonstrate leadership in the field.

A Ph.D or Ed.D is required. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution. Extensive knowledge of theory and practice in early childhood special education; professional preparation and practical experience within the certification range of birth through grade 2; strong evidence of established or promising research and scholarly activity depending on rank; university teaching and supervisory experience; competence in a variety of methods and tools for university teaching, including technology. Candidates must have a commitment to work in multicultural and urban settings.

Faculty salary ranges are established through PSC-CUNY contracts and vary according to rank.
