The Media and Design department in the McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia invites qualified applicants to apply for the position of Instructional Designer. Reporting to the Director of Instructional Design, the successful candidate will provide best-practice instructional design services to faculty developing and teaching in face-to-face, online, and blended learning environments.

The candidate should have prior instructional-design experience and have designed, managed and evaluated both face-to-face and online-learning courses. Prior experience should be broad and include being well-versed in appropriate learning theories, conducting needs assessments and evaluations, working with multiple online learning management systems as well as maintaining fluency with applicable instructional-technology solutions. Collaboration is a fundamental component of this position and this department. The candidate will be highly skilled at collaborating with faculty, subject matter experts, administrators, and colleagues. And while the ability to work in a team environment will be crucial, so too is the ability to work independently; motivation and initiative are essential. This position requires someone who is organized, can set priorities, and is an effective time manager. The McIntire Media and Design Department is a fast-paced and often fluid environment; deadlines may shift and the ability to be agile and flexible is crucial.
