The Robbins College of Business and Entrepreneurship (RCOBE) at Fort Hays State University (FHSU) seeks a well-qualified and visionary academic leader to serve as its Chair of the Department of Management.  The major content areas of this department are:  General Management, Human Resource Management, Entrepreneurship, Production Operations Management, and Business Law. 

The RCOBE is seeking an entrepreneurial leader who is committed to innovation in program delivery and quality.  Experience with distance learning and/or executive education is an asset.  The ability to build and maintain connections with alumni and to build partnerships with employers of the department’s graduates and with donors is also important. 

Strong written and oral communications skills, experience leading teams and building consensus are critical.  In addition to departmental leadership responsibilities, the Management Chair is part of the Executive Committee of the RCOBE and the RCOBE Strategic Planning Committee.  The chair plays an important role in guiding the vision and execution of major initiatives of the college.

Fort Hays State University departmental chairs typically have a work assignment:  50% administrative, 30% teaching, 10% research, and 10% service.  The academic title assigned depends on the successful candidate’s level of experience and qualifications.

Required qualifications:
A doctoral degree in Management, Entrepreneurship, or a closely related business field; A record of teaching excellence in both face-to-face and distance learning settings; A commitment to student learning; A successful record of research and scholarship; Strong written and oral communication skills; Strong organizational skills; Evidence of success leading teams, building consensus, problem solving, and instituting change; A strong commitment to both graduate and undergraduate education. 

Preferred credentials:
Academic expertise in Human Resource Management Experience with allocating resources and deployment of faculty Experience with accreditation and program assessment Experience with program promotion and fundraising Experience working as a manager in the private sector Experience with executive education.

Description: The college consists of four large and growing departments: Applied Business Studies; Economics, Finance, and Accounting; Informatics; and Management and consists of more than 50 full-time faculty supported by key staff.
