Reporting to the Vice President for Administration and Finance, the Director of Auxiliary Services leads the operations of the College’s auxiliary services departments with the objective of delivering a superior customer service experience to the entire campus community and visitors. Departments reporting to the director include dining, bookstore, conference services and events, post office, licensing, copy center, and OneCard and related services. The director designs and delivers services that create a vibrant campus experience and a strong sense of community through the services provided and the manner in which those services are delivered, all in support of the College’s mission of education and formation in the Jesuit liberal arts tradition. In addition, the director will pursue customer-focused integration of services, both within Auxiliary Services and elsewhere within the College. This position provides responsible financial oversight and manages all supporting operational policies, procedures, and processes with the goal of continuous improvement aimed at enhancing the overall customer experience and creating efficiencies. The supervised departments employ approximately 145 full-time employees plus other part-time and banquet/function employees with approximately $20 million in annual revenue.
A bachelor’s degree and a record of progressively increasing responsibilities that includes at least ten years of experience in managing auxiliary operations and five years of supervisory experience in one of the auxiliary departments are required. An advanced degree in business administration is preferred. The successful candidate will be an expert in supply chain management and in meeting customer expectations to accomplish customer satisfaction. In addition, candidates should possess working operational knowledge of the functional areas within auxiliary services and how each area interfaces with other areas of the community; an ability to negotiate and manage contracts with outside vendors; experience/knowledge of managing retail operations; the ability to establish and maintain an appropriate network of professional contacts; and experience with and skills appropriate to working with senior level staff. Experience in marketing and promotion of conference, event, or related services; a sound understanding of the values and philosophy of auxiliary enterprises in a higher education setting; and a passion for quality service delivery are all desired attributes of the next director.
