Primary Function of Organization Unit: The Biological Sciences Department has a nationally ranked graduate program which allows it to offer many educational experiences to its degree students in both the graduate and undergraduate curriculum. The programs are complemented by top researchers and instructors in the field of Biological Sciences, providing students with the education to make a difference in a future career. Essential Job Duties: The Contracts and Grants Manager is responsible for the financial management of grant accounts in the Biological Sciences Department within the College of Sciences, and provides advanced technical support to Pls with pre- and post award administration including no-cost extensions, re-budgets, budget justifications, summer salary, salary release and all compliance issues within the University, Federal Government, and Agency guidelines. The Contracts and Grants Manager reports directly to the Business Officer, but works directly with faculty to manage the sponsor projects portfolio of the department. The department operates in the College of Sciences.
Department Required Skills: Thorough knowledge of established governmental budgeting and bookkeeping practices and procedures. - Experience Managing and reconciling grants accounts. - Knowledge of the following systems OR other grant management programs; PeopleSoft Financial system, PeopleSoft HR system, WOLF Reports, Labor Reports, Payroll Distribution Reports, PINS, RADAR, and the ePAR system. - Microsoft Office (Word and Excel.)/ - GoogleApps
Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education: - Prefer candidate with a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field - Previous financial management experience and the ability to effectively manage budget and related financial matters - Knowledge of University Spending guidelines and research administration (pre and post award). - Experience working with NIH and NSF sponsored projects. - Certified Research Administrator (CRA)
