Primary Purpose:
Under the direction of the Dean of Students, the Director of Intercultural Student Success will foster campus-wide awareness and competence regarding cultural inclusion and equity. The Director contributes to the creation of a welcoming campus environment by providing programming that not only honors students' multiple identities but also builds working alliances with diverse student, staff, and faculty stakeholders that support retention and persistence.

Essential Functions:
Supervision and Leadership:
  • Supervises, evaluates, and develops unit’s staff including Women’s Resource Center, Pride Resource Center, African American/Black Student Support & Success, Latino/a Outreach Center.
  • Develops long-range vision for diverse students’ success using student, institutional, and national data to plan and evaluate programming and student interventions.
  • Oversees day-to-day operation of the Intercultural Center.
  • Guides and directs staff to deliver comprehensive and seamless Pacific student experience for both residential and commuter students.
  • Oversees design, implementation, evaluation and assessment of student staff and volunteer selection processes to ensure qualified and diverse hiring practices.
    •Plans and allocates financial resources of the department and ensures department conformity to institutional business rules, procedures and departmental internal controls.

    Policy and Program Development, Planning, and Assessment:
  • Works collaboratively with campus partners to devise, execute, and evaluate retention-based goals, policies, organization, and programs.
  • Integrates faculty into the work of intercultural student success by developing on-going relationships with faculty across University schools and colleges.

    Campus Outreach and Collaboration:
  • Represents the department on University committees and on special projects as appointed by the Dean of Students.

    Emergency Response:
  • Serve as a member of the Dean of Students On-Call team that participates in the larger University emergency response team/system.
  • Oversees Pacific Cares Resource Program
  • Co-leads University Bias Response Team.

    Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master’s Degree.
  • Five (5) years of student life or related professional experience.

    Preferred Qualifications:
  • Education in Student Affairs, Higher Education, Intercultural Education or related area.
  • Seven (7) years of professional experience in student life in higher education with demonstrated expertise and leadership in intercultural student success, at the campus, community, and professional organizations’ levels.
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to issues of student development, diversity, and special population needs through programming, student advising and mentoring, and training.

    Skills/Knowledge and Expertise:
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Planning and programming skills.
  • Assessment of learning outcomes and objectives.
  • Staff training, development, supervision.
  • Positive attitude and proven ability to work successfully with diverse populations.
  • Demonstrated commitment to promote and enhance diversity and inclusion.
  • Budget management.

    Work Environment/Work Week/Travel:
    Work is performed in a standard office environment with frequent use of phone, computer and other communication devices. Work performed during standard business hours, M-F. Position will require some evening, weekend and on-call commitments.
