Position Description:
The Master of Science in Athletic Training Program is seeking qualified applicants for a Coordinator of Clinical Education and Instructor/Clinical Assistant Professor of Athletic Training position. The Coordinator of Clinical Education is responsible for oversight of the clinical education portion of the Athletic Training (AT) Program to include:

  • Oversight for student clinical progression
  • Student assignment to clinical experience
  • Clinical site evaluation
  • Student evaluation
  • Regular communication with preceptors
  • Professional development of preceptors
  • Preceptors selection and evaluation
  • Attaining and maintaining the Athletic Training Program as a Board of Certification (BOC) Approve Provider

    The Coordinator of Clinical Education will be a core faculty member that will teach athletic training courses, advise and mentor students in the AT program, contribute scholarly activities, and attend Program, School and University meetings. Core full-time faculty in the AT program report to, are evaluated and assigned responsibilities by the Athletic Training Program Director and the Dean of the Graduate School.

    The Coordinator of Clinical Education will be required to maintain:

  • Contemporary expertise in athletic training and assigned teaching area
  • Evidence of scholarship
  • Membership in the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA)
  • Ongoing certification in Emergency Cardiac Care as determined by the BOC
  • Current and in good standing state athletic training credential, upon credentialing of athletic trainers in the State of California

    Basic Qualifications:
    Required Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Athletic Training or a related field
  • Certified and in good standing with the Board of Certification (BOC)
  • Previous clinical practice in athletic training
  • Certification in Emergency Cardiac Care as determined by the BOC

    Additional Qualifications:
    Preferred Qualifications
  • Doctorate (Ph.D., Ed.D.) in a related field - Required for Clinical Assistant Professor faculty position
  • Clinical Doctorate in Athletic Training (DAT)
  • Three to five years of clinical athletic training experience
  • Three to five years of administrative experience as a CEC or Program Director
  • Experience working with Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE)
  • Evidence of expertise in collegiate and/or graduate level teaching
  • Evidence of consistent scholarly activity
  • Evidence of excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Evidence of excellent organizational skills
  • Evidence of maintaining electronic/digital student records
  • History of service the Athletic Training profession
