Job Summary

The Community Engagement Coordinator cultivates partnerships and alliances within the South Florida community to create a robust schedule of original, demand-driven programming and events that bring innovation and entrepreneurial experiences directly to The Idea Center.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Builds relationships with a wide array of local community organizations, companies and prominent individuals seeking to hold events in partnership with the Idea Center
  • Coordinates and maintains communication efforts to internal and external audiences via social media, internet, promotion, program materials
  • Ensures delivery of high quality events
  • Integrates The Idea Center program offerings college-wide and platforms engaging student body and local community
  • Identifies appropriate partners that align with strategic objectives and college mission
  • Ensures the most effective social medial channels are utilized to maximize outreach and exposure to The Idea Center programs and activities
  • Reviews communication materials to be produced for distribution and provides recommendations for final approval
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

  • Master's degree in a related field of study such as Marketing or Public Relations from an accredited institution and one (1) year of related experience in customer service and/or partnership develpment; or Bachelor's degree in a related field of study such as Marketing or Public Relations from an accredited institution and five (5) years of related experience in customer service and/or partnership develpment
  • All degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution
  • Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives, and policies and procedures
  • Passion for civic engagement and higher education
  • Demonstrated experience in partnership development
  • Ability to effectively manage marketing/events with multifaceted programming
  • Possess excellent organizational and communication skills (both oral and written)
  • Knowledge of communication principles, marketing techniques, strategies and processes while keeping abreast of current trends
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from top management, groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
  • Ability to work well in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with students, faculty, and staff
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to include evenings and weekends

Essential Position

  • This function/position has been designated as essential. This means that when the College is faced with an institutional emergency, employees in such positions may be required to remain at their work location or to report to work to protect, recover, and continue operations at the College.
