Minimum Education/Experience: Graduation from a physician assistant program approved by the North Carolina Board of Medical Examiners and "approved to practice medical acts" based on education and experience by the Board of Medical Examiners; or graduation from a Nurse Practitioner Program approved by the North Carolina Joint Subcommittee and licensed by the NC Board of Nursing. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Job Duties: A physician extender is needed to work in collaboration with supervising physicians to provide comprehensive outpatient and urgent medical care. The selected candidate will be responsible for diagnosis, treatment, and management of acute and chronic disease as part of the Family Medicine Center at the Brody School of Medicine. Work schedule is an average of forty hours per week. The Family Medicine Center and Monk Geriatric Center serve as the patient-centered medical home for patients in Greenville and the surrounding areas. Family physicians provide general and preventive care services to all age groups. Services offered include urgent care, health maintenance, prenatal care, minor surgical procedures, Sports Medicine, Geriatrics, family and individual counseling, patient education and nutrition. Additional services include laboratory, radiology, and pharmacy. Hospital and nursing home care are also provided to Family Medicine patients. CLINICAL SUPPORT POSITION - NOT SUBJECT TO STATE HUMAN RESOURCES ACT. The ECU Brody School of Medicine is affiliated with Vidant Medical Center.  Vidant Medical Center is the flagship hospital for Vidant Health and serves as the teaching hospital for the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University.
