Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Worcester Polytechnic Institute invites applications for postdoctoral positions in the research group of Professor Shawn Burdette. The first project involves the synthesis and characterization of photocaged zinc complexes and interfacing with other group members on the application of photocages to biological studies. Photocaged complexes release a metal ion upon exposure to light that allow signaling pathways in cells to be mapped. The Burdette group has developed several photoactive complexes that release zinc upon exposure to light. Initial appointment starts on June 1, 2018, and is for one year with the possibility of reappointments for a second year.

The successful applicant will have received Ph.D. in Chemistry before beginning the appointment and will have a strong background in synthetic chemistry.
