Associate Dean of Nursing and Health Professions
Position Title: Associate Dean of Nursing and Health Professions
Salary: $75,000 or commensurate with experience
Qualifications:Master's degree in nursing with applicable experience and credentials to teach within an academic center are required. The successful candidate will have experience in team leadership and development, budget creation and management, the ability to perform faculty evaluations and class scheduling, and the ability to represent the College in a knowledgeable and positive manner to all partners. Candidates must have a demonstrated ability to remain current in the discipline and with applicable regulations.
Experience in Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) accreditation and a doctorate degree are strongly preferred.
Duties:Major responsibilities of the successful candidate will include, but are not limited to, the following: Provides strong leadership and team-building of the Health Professions faculty and staff; Develops and mentors professional growth and student-centered program pedagogy and policies; Develops and manages Department's Strategic Plan in resonance with the Academic Affairs and College Strategic Plans; Develops staffing plans, makes recommendations to hire full-time staff, and selects part-time staff for the Health Sciences curriculum;
Maintains standards and eligibility for program accreditations;
In conjunction with the Assessment Innovation Leader, collaborates in assessment activities and employs results in program improvement;
Performs formative evaluations of program personnel, makes recommendations about personnel decisions for full-time staff, and makes personnel decisions for part-time staff;
Under the Dean's leadership, develops a schedule (day, time, location) of program courses to be offered to meet the needs of students and the contractual obligations of the faculty;
Develops and implements annual plans for improving the quality of program offerings and services;
Supports ongoing professional development of full-time and part-time staff;
Participates in articulation and recruitment efforts with colleges and high schools, as appropriate;
Actively cooperates with other areas across the College in the interest of supporting the college mission and vision;
In conjunction with the Dean, develops and administers the program budgets;
Oversees credit evaluation, certification for graduation, admission to programs, and academic standards for continuation in program;
Administers the ordering of equipment and supplies within budget guidelines;
Collaborates and develops recommendations for policy and procedures for the Learning and Academic Affairs area;
Represents the Nursing and Health Profession programs in critical areas such as curriculum development, student advising, and community needs;
Assures that programs, courses and instruction are meeting student transfer, job entry, and/or career advancement needs;
Articulates and cooperates with the Center for Corporate and Community Education
Participates in scheduled meetings with the Vice President for Learning and Academic Affairs, Deans, and other individual meetings as needed;
Assists with College-wide events such as, but not limited to, commencement ceremonies, open houses, and orientations;
Complies with College guidelines, policies and procedures;
Performs other duties as required by the Dean.
