Job Summary:

The faculty member will teach undergraduate Exercise Physiology and Human Performance courses, serve as lead faculty in the newly developed program, and direct the new Human Performance Lab. Additional responsibilities include student academic advising; engaging in university, department, and community committees as well as other kinds of service; and conducting research and scholarship activities.

This is a tenured position.

Summer appointment is not guaranteed and is contingent upon University need.

Minimum Education/Experience:

  • Doctorate approved by the University and recognized by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools as appropriate to the area of Exercise Physiology, Exercise Science, or a related field;
  • A demonstration of teaching excellence in evaluations by peers, department head, and college dean;
  • A record of scholarly activity meriting the awarding of tenure and the rank of Associate or Full Professor.
  • Direct experience in an exercise science laboratory
  • Must possess the minimum credential standards of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), which include at least 18 graduate semester credit hours in the subject area or suitable approved justifications


Preferred Education/Experience:
  • Doctorate approved by the University and recognized by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools as appropriate to the area of Exercise Physiology, Exercise Science, or a related field;
  • A demonstration of teaching excellence in evaluations by peers, department head, and college dean;
  • A strong record of scholarly activity in high quality peer-reviewed scholarly journals and conferences;
  • Demonstrated ability to secure external research funding;
  • Evidence of engaging students in undergraduate research;
  • Evidence of supporting community engagement through service-learning and/or community-based research;
  • Direct experience in an exercise science laboratory


Responsibilities:
  • Teach undergraduate courses in the newly developed Exercise Physiology and Human Performance program (12 workload credits per semester; 3 workload credits for each undergraduate course taught) and serve as lead faculty in the area.
  • Direct the new Human Performance Laboratory
  • Additional responsibilities include student academic advising; engaging in university, department and community committees and other kinds of service; and conducting research and scholarship activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
