Description: We invite applications for a position beginning in Fall 2018 in the Department of English. We seek a candidate with the expertise to teach Poetry and Creative Writing courses, and a firm commitment to the goals of a Christian Liberal Arts education. The candidate may also be asked to develop and maintain student publications, serve on department and university committees, and teach other courses offered by the English Department, including freshman composition and introductory literature courses, as well as courses in the M.A. program. Preference will be given to a candidate with a strong publication record.
Specialization: Poetry, with a possible secondary specialization, such as professional and technical writing, linguistics, or global literature.
- Yearly instructional duties (up to 24 teaching units per academic year)
- Academic advising and mentoring
- Ability to engage and support departmental mission in curricular and program growth
- Service to the larger academic community
- Continued publication, both artistic and academic
Level: Rank and salary are dependent on experience and qualifications.
Qualifications: Ph.D. preferred/M.F.A. strongly considered
Experience: Experience in higher education teaching in general, especially in the areas of poetry and one defined secondary area of emphasis. Further experience in university service and developing relationships with the community in relation to the arts preferred.
Workload: Full-time; up to 24 units of teaching per academic year
