AVP for Diversity, Inclusion & Stu Dev

Position Description: Serves as a member of the Division senior leadership team. Supervises assigned professionals, graduate assistants and student employees in areas such as Student Organizations, Campus Activities, General Fee Advisory Committee, LGBTQ+ Center, Maryjoyce Green Women's Center and Veterans Student Support Center. Provides inspirational and operational leadership to programs supporting and celebrating all protected classes. Advises Vice President on issues related to sustaining a diverse and inclusive climate and culture for students that is respectful and advances understanding and equality. Executes and presents university–wide initiatives, developing and leading co-curricular programs and services that link issues of race, ethnicity, culture, diversity, multiculturalism, inclusion, intersectionality, and social justice to holistic student development. Works collaboratively with other University leaders to support campus diversity and advocate for the principles of diversity and inclusion; works closely with the AVP for Institutional Diversity in the Division of Diversity, Inclusion, and Community Engagement. Interacts professionally with all internal and external customers using strong interpersonal skills.

Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree and four to seven years progressively responsible experience working with and representing diverse communities. Demonstrated commitment to diversity in all its forms, including a track record of individual action and student programming. Demonstrated ability to provide leadership, promote teamwork, and build consensus. Strong written communication and interpersonal skills, including group presentation/facilitation skills. Proven ability to successfully manage multiple complex projects simultaneously. PC proficiency. Demonstrated management and supervisory skills.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience in higher education, student affairs and student programming. Successful record in grant proposal development and securing of funds. Demonstrated leadership style that builds confidence in staff, promotes teamwork, enhances creativity and motivation, and builds consensus in a high-energy and high-task environment. Preference given for multi-lingual applicants.
