Education Specialist Veterans Upward Bound

Job description

The Education Specialist conducts individual and group sessions for academic, college, career and personal guidance. Works with veterans in target area, appropriate college faculty/staff, institutions of higher education, financial aid, FASFA preparation, area agencies serving veterans and area TRIO programs to facilitate services and activities with an emphasis on college readiness that lead to enrollment into postsecondary entrance. Maintains accurate records concerning program activities and student academic progress.

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Sociology, Education or related field plus two years of full-time experience in a secondary or post-secondary educational environment required. At least one year experience working with at-risk students, adults or veterans in counseling or advising capacity required. Experience in community college or a technical college preferred. Background similar to the target population preferred. Equivalent combination of education and/or work experience including part time considered. Excellent written and oral communication skills. This position is a Special Fund Grant position until 10/30/2022. Position is contingent upon MCC Board of Governors approval. NOTE: College degrees obtained outside the U.S. accepted only when interpreted by transcript service members of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services.
