Advertised Job Summary: Grant Administrator duties for the School of Medicine will include guiding and managing the submission of grant proposals, facilitating multi-disciplinary grant submissions, and assisting the Research Center for Transforming Health with clinical research/trials submissions. Will be responsible for developing and maintaining grant-related notification systems and reports. Will provide financial and grant training and serve as a resource for SOM faculty and staff. Will provide regular budget reports and assist with budget planning and balance monitoring. Must demonstrate commitment to conducting business lawfully and ethically by consistently adhering to HIPAA and compliance policies, procedures and regulations. Assist USC School of Medicine faculty and staff, as needed, with the development of research budgets for grants and industry sponsored studies. Guide and actively prepare non-scientific components of grant proposals for School of Medicine faculty. Provide full assistance and active engagement in grant proposal submissions, including USCeRA data management plans, Just in Time documents, etc. for School of Medicine faculty. Interface with USC central grant administration and contracts in terms of budget preparation, salary charges and ensuring final budget submissions meet all local, state and federal policies. Ensure that budget submissions are complete with budget justification narratives. Facilitate multi-disciplinary grant submissions across departments, colleges, and state entities by managing, coordinating and completing as necessary all administrative requirements. Work with the Research Center for Transforming Health for enhancing/streamlining clinical research/trials submissions. Work with the School of Medicine Development Office to engage and submit research fellowship funding for School of Medicine students, residents and fellows. Work with the USC Office of Contract and Grant Accounting to develop a notification system for progress reports and tracking of subcontracts. Provide financial, grant and related training and serve as a resource to School of Medicine staff and faculty by developing a full working knowledge of PeopleSoft and other USC systems. Work with School of Medicine funded PIs to provide regular budget reports and to serve as a resource for research budget management. Interact with all School of Medicine departmental business managers in terms of establishing budget plans and serve as a resource for research budget planning and balance monitoring. Assists the Director of Contract and Grant Administration, as needed, with grant administration and financial activities pertaining to sponsored research in the USC School of Medicine.
Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions): Bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration or the social sciences and 5 years experience in contracts and grant administration activities.
