Duties Performed in the Usual Course of the Job

The Art Department of Sam Houston State University invites applicants for a one-year renewable contract to teach Photography and Digital Media beginning Fall 2018.

We are seeking an artist with the ability to teach photographic concepts and techniques using digital media through an online platform. The one-year renewable appointment requires teaching 3 online courses per semester in Photographic Concepts and Digital Photography for majors and non-majors, attendance at monthly department faculty meetings, and face to face meetings with students during scheduled office hours.

Educational Requirements for the Position

MFA in Photography or related field.

Experience Required for the Position

Teaching experience at the undergraduate level is strongly preferred. Professional experience is also an asset.

Other Requirements for the Position

The successful candidate should be familiar with the history of photography as well as critical issues and theories in contemporary photography, be proficient in the use of photo editing software, digital and film slr cameras, and be able to develop courses and teach using Blackboard and
