Assistant Professor of Political Science
Located in Dalton, Georgia, at the center of the world's greatest concentration of flooring production, Dalton State offers scenic beauty and easy access to urban areas. The city of Dalton is located in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, and the College enjoys a heavily wooded campus on Interstate 75 about 30 miles south of Chattanooga, Tennessee, and 85 miles north of Atlanta, Georgia.
Responsibilities of the position include teaching 9 classes per academic year. Teaching assignments may be day, evening, or weekends, and possibly at off-campus locations. Academic advising, committee work, planning and assessment, other College and community service, and professional development will also be required along with any other such duties as assigned by the chair of Social Sciences. The salary is commensurate with credentials and experience. An on-campus interview and teaching demonstration will be required prior to an official offer of the position.
The position requires a Ph.D. in Political Science; ABD's will be considered if it is likely that all conditions for earning the Ph.D. will be met before classes begin in Fall, 2018. Candidates who have at least 18 hours in a different Social Sciences area (e.g. Philosophy) will be given preference. We are primarily a teaching institution so the successful candidate will have a primary interest in teaching and a history of effective teaching.
