Job Description Summary: Furman University invites applications for a laboratory coordinator position in biology to begin in August 2018. The Biology laboratory coordinator will aid the faculty in their teaching mission by setting up and coordinating multiple teaching laboratories, by preparing, maintaining, and ordering materials for the laboratory portion of regular undergraduate classes, and by supervising student workers assisting in these activities. The successful applicant must have the knowledge to operate and to perform routine maintenance on standard laboratory equipment used in biology, and must be comfortable and proficient in working with live animals. The Biology laboratory coordinator will also help to maintain a chemical and equipment inventory and to facilitate the departmental safety program by maintaining necessary supplies and documentation. Minimum Qualifications: BA, BS, MA or MS Scientist with a degree in Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field. Must possess the experience and skill to operate equipment used in the department to support teaching of our undergraduate courses. Experience in use of computers and common software (e.g., Word, Excel) required. Must have the interpersonal skills to work smoothly and harmoniously with faculty members, other staff and students.
