The University of St. Thomas invites qualified candidates to apply for a Recruitment and Enrollment Specialist within the College of Education, Leadership and Counseling.

JOB SUMMARY
Support efforts to implement a grant from the Collaborative Urban And Greater Minnesota Educators of Color Program funded by the State of Minnesota within the parameters as stipulated by the State of Minnesota and/or its fiscal agent, the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE).

The CUE grant is awarded for a set period, and the position ends with the end of the grant period. Any further employment as the Recruitment and Enrollment Specialist is dependent upon renewed state funding for the following biennium.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Recruit and support efforts to successfully matriculate annually into University of St. Thomas teacher licensure programs 15 to 30 highly qualified individuals who would be identified in the legislation/MDE prospectus as members of underserved populations and who are not members of communities already being served by other partnerships (e.g. SUTR, MSTR and OSEP)
  • Maintain a current and active engagement with the alums of the UST CUE program for purposes of recruiting, ongoing support of fundraising, and placement of teaching candidates
  • Participate in the review of CUE Scholarship applicants for purposes of recommending scholarship awards
  • Assist as deemed appropriate in preparing information and/or materials for the solicitation for additional funding and prepare and file all reports as mandated by any and all grantors and by the university

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a related field and three years of professional recruitment/sales experience or the equivalent experience working with prospective clients.

Preferred qualifications: Experience in program administration and/or teaching in a K-12 setting, and management experience in personnel, and planning.

Knowledge of: Teacher Preparation Programs, Minnesota State Licensure rules and statutes, and the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation standards; computer applications related to the work; record keeping principles and practices; techniques for dealing with the staff and the public, in person and over the telephone; principles and techniques of making effective oral presentations.

Skill in: Preparing clear and concise reports, correspondence, and other written materials that reflect program goals, structures, and processes for implementing the grant mission; maintaining accurate records and files; using initiative and independent judgment within general policy guidelines; contributing effectively to the accomplishment of team or work unit goals, objectives and activities; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of the work; making effective oral presentations to large and small groups and representing the university effectively in meetings with various public and private organizations; and working effectively with a diverse graduate student population to ensure their successful transition into the teaching profession. Preferred skills would include the effective use of enterprise-wide systems.
