Classroom Support Technician

Primary Function of Organization Unit: CVM IT is responsible for addressing the diverse IT needs for the CVM as a whole;this includes the Veterinary Hospital, Research areas, and departments, as well as academic classroom support. The current scope includes all faculty, staff, students, researchers, and administrators across the CVM. The Computing Resources Team must ensure the CVM is capable of successfully embracing the latest technologies and tools while maintaining the confidentiality and integrity of all IT processes and data.
Essential Job Duties: The Classroom Support Technician position will be in the CVM IT group and will report to the IT Services Director from whom he/she receives priorities and direction. This position will primarily serve as the Audio Visual Coordinator overseeing the A/V technologies in the classrooms and conference rooms throughout the College. This includes project management and planning for the advancement of A/V technologies and the maintenance and support of the existing A/V technologies working in close coordination with Tier 3 A/V support & installation vendors (Imagination Systems, Sonic Foundry, Whitlock, etc.). This position will also plan, maintain and advance the continuing transition of the College to digital A/V standards, AirMedia presentation systems, advanced telepresence video conferencing, and streaming media infrastructure.
Department Required Skills: Prior working experience with A/V technology (Projectors, motorized screens, Crestron control panels, Foscam cameras, Mediasite recorders, Hardware/software codecs, PolyCom audioconferencing equipment, etc.) The employee should be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a wide variety of clients and coworkers. The employee should have the ability to set his/her own priorities and meet tactical project deadlines. The employee must have proven ability to assimilate new technical skills;both in the A/V space as well as the desktop support space. Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds occasionally.
Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education: Experience in integration of A/V with the advancement of medical and healthcare related equipment and devices. CTS Industry certification is desirable (CTS, CTS-I, CTS-D).
