University Health Network, and its partner hospitals, and the University of Toronto's Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology, are seeking an Anatomical Pathologist with expertise in Gastrointestinal (approximately 0.7 FTE) and Soft tissue/bone pathology (approximately 0.3 FTE). The appointment is at the rank of Assistant, Associate or full Professor, with an expected start date of July 1, 2018.
The successful candidate will join a large academic laboratory medicine program at the University Health Network with diverse diagnostic expertise, excellent teaching activities, and exciting basic and clinical research activities/ opportunities. Candidates must demonstrate evidence of certified Fellowship-training in both Gastrointestinal and Soft Tissue/Bone Pathology, have or be eligible for licensure by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) and hold a fellowship in Anatomical Pathology with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, or equivalent. A background in collaborative and/or self-initiated basic research will be an advantage although not essential.
A mandatory component of the position is the ability to spend onsite time (typically one week/month) in Timmins participating in quality, administrative and managerial activities related to the onsite and associated laboratories. This will be by arrangement with the UHN Program Medical Director.
Responsibilities will include participating in diagnostic service for UHN and its client facilities, teaching and self-initiated and/or collaborative research activities. It is anticipated that creative rostering and effective time-management will allow the individual to engage in academic pursuits. The successful candidate should be eligible for an academic appointment in the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology, University of Toronto, with a rank commensurate with academic qualifications and experience. Minimum salary and benefits are in accordance with the uniform minimal level of compensation for laboratory physicians in the Province of Ontario (currently $348,110).
