The Department of Clinical Biochemistry, Laboratory Medicine Program at University Health Network, Toronto, Canada and the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology at the University of Toronto are seeking a faculty member at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or full Professor with diagnostic and academic expertise in Clinical Biochemistry. The expected start date will be July 1, 2018.

The successful candidate will join an academic faculty with diverse diagnostic expertise, fulfilling teaching responsibilities and exciting research activities. The University Health Network has an internationally renowned clinical program in all aspects of Clinical Biochemistry. We utilize leading edge diagnostic technologies.
The candidate should hold an MD or PhD degree and be certified (or eligible for certification) in clinical chemistry by the Canadian Academy of Clinical Biochemistry (CACB) and/or the American Board of Clinical Chemistry (ABCC) or The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. MD candidates should have or be be eligible for licensure by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO). The applicant will have a strong record of scholarship, experience or special training in clinical biochemistry, routine and STAT chemistry, special chemistry, endocrinology, mass spectrometry, point of care testing and other state-of-the-art methodologies in biochemical diagnostics. Reporting to the Clinical Biochemist-in-Chief, the ideal candidate will be a highly motivated individual with demonstrated professional skills, able to work in team settings, and have excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
Clinical laboratory functions will include oversight of analytical and quality aspects of laboratory analysis, method development and implementation, interpretation of results, consultation with physicians, and teaching staff, students, residents and fellows (including CACB and medical specialties).
The successful applicant will be expected to develop an independent and/or collaborative research program and to be eligible for an appointment at one of UHN's Research Institutes as an Associate Scientist. Extensive opportunities for collaborative research exist with clinical programs and within the Research Institute. The successful applicant will also be expected to participate in postgraduate teaching in the Postdoctoral Training Program in Clinical Biochemistry at the University of Toronto, teaching within the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology, and in various continuing medical education activities.
The successful candidate should be qualified to be appointed with the Medical and Scientific Staff of University Health Network and should be eligible for an academic appointment in the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology at the University of Toronto. Rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. For PhD candidates, salary and benefits will be in accordance with experience. For MD candidates, minimum salary and benefits are in accordance with the uniform minimal level of compensation for laboratory physicians in the Province of Ontario (currently $348,110).
