Lead Building Inspector, Facility Services-Engineering & Inspection- #603415

Northern Arizona University’s Facilities Services is seeking a Lead Building Inspector.  This position exists to aid and advise the Associate Director of Engineering and Inspection (E&I) in fulfilling the Facility Services’ mission to the University by providing superior customer service to the Campus community relating to the inspection and quality assurance of campus infrastructures, buildings; and the enforcement and interpretation of applicable building codes and campus design standards.  This position is part of the Engineering and Inspection Service Group, which includes; Engineering, Fire Marshal, Asbestos and Lead Compliance, Building/Construction Inspection and Plan Review, CAD, and GIS.

Under the general direction of the Associate Director of Engineering and Inspection, efficiently and cost effectively conducts reviews and inspections of building system design and installations to ensure code compliance and conformance with project contract documents.  Provides technical advice and guidance throughout the design and construction process.  Administers and implements Building Official duties as designated in the International Building Codes.  Coordinates and leads all department inspectors to ensure a consistent program and messaging to all clients. Minimum Qualifications: Certification in as a Commercial Combination Inspector, C5 or a combination of 3 of the following Commercial Inspector certifications (B2, E2, M2, P2)and one of the Plans Examiner certifications (B3, E3, M3, P3) or Accessibility Inspector/Plans Examiner (21) and seven years commercial/institution construction experience including four years of experience as a building inspector. Or completion of a four-year federally approved technical training program, plus three years of experience in commercial/institutional construction and two years of experience as a building inspector.

Annual Salary: Commensurate with experience.
