FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT:
Baruch College is seeking to hire two full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professors of Graphic Communication. The Graphic Communication Program is part of the Weissman School of Arts and Sciences within the Department of Fine and Performing Arts.
Our major, Business Communication with a Graphic Communication specialization offers students coursework in graphic design for print and dynamic media as well as management and marketing courses. The Department also has a large enrollment in the Graphic Design minor and supports the other schools within Baruch with elective courses.
Additional responsibilities include course development, student advisement, and student portfolio reviews. Service on department, college, and university committees is required.
MFA or equivalent and a minimum of 2 years professional design experience demonstrating expertise in the field, a record of creative or scholarly work (published design work. exhibitions, published writing in the field, professional presentations, awards) and a minimum of two years of college-level teaching experience.
Candidates should have both a strong on-going professional practice in design and a strong investment in teaching. Candidates should also have experience in both print and screen-based media, be able to teach beginning to advanced level coursework in graphic design, and demonstrate expertise in teaching both theory and project-based courses.
