About the Position

The Learning Specialist for Student-Athlete Success Services (SASS) will provide tutoring, mentoring, and academic support for student-athletes by utilizing technology and strengthening connections/relationships with various academic support services across campus. The Learning Specialist will contribute to program development related to student success and demonstrate creativity in working with individual students with unique educational needs/education impacting disabilities.


The Learning Specialist is expected to have knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations, as well as how those rules apply to the Learning Support Program.  The Learning Specialist will be expected to have working knowledge of the academic transition from high school to college level work in the University environment.  Further, this position performs student success programming, prepares a variety of reports and data for SASS.


The position also provides academic counseling to a select group of at-risk student-athletes. Lastly, the Learning Specialist is responsible for utilizing PeopleSoft, GradesFirst, and other technology to track the academic progress of their assigned cohort of student-athletes.
