General Summary of Position:
The Department of Biomedical and Nutritional Sciences at The University of Massachusetts Lowell seeks a full time tenure track faculty member with expertise and research interests in pharmaceutical sciences/pharmacokinetics/drug delivery. The candidate will be appointed at the associate or full professor level, depending upon qualifications.
The Department of Biomedical and Nutritional Sciences is located within the Zuckerberg College of Health Sciences at UMass Lowell. The Zuckerberg College is a dynamic, growing college that prepares professionals and scientists in a wide range of health science fields including applied, clinical, and translational areas. A large research program, vibrant community partnerships, and engagement opportunities enrich and support our educational programs. The candidate will work with collaborators within the college and within other colleges at the university, including researchers focused on active nano-delivery system (Liposome encapsulation), environmental material science, and with external academic practice/industry partners.
This candidate will help advance the only pharmaceutical sciences program in a public university in Massachusetts. The candidate should have a successful track record of extramural funding and show significant potential to garner continued funding to support their research programs; in addition, the candidate must have track record of industry connection and collaborative research.
The candidate should show ability to work with multidisciplinary researchers within the department and the university; and desire to work with teams. Areas of research interests may include any area of pharmaceutical sciences/pharmacokinetics/drug delivery, including but not limited to nano-pharmaceuticals/nanomedicine, targeted delivery systems, or delivery of biologics. Candidate should have expertise in novel drug delivery formulations. Experiences in drug delivery for diagnostic purposes, pharmacokinetics and pharmacogenomics are desirable, in addition to a broad knowledge of toxicology, and toxicogenomics.
We seek applicants recognized for teaching excellence, scholarly productivity, ability to work with diverse populations, and excellent oral and written communication skills in English. The candidate may be requested to teach graduate courses in fields such as drug delivery, toxicology, and broader pharmaceutical sciences. The individual will also be engaged in service to the college as required.
Minimum Qualifications (Required):
- A PhD in pharmaceutical sciences/pharmacokinetics/drug delivery, pharmacogenomics, molecular biology, or other related biomedical sciences field
- The ability to work effectively with diverse groups
- Strong record of research and publication
- Evidence of ability to develop an independent research program and secure extramural funding
- Postdoctoral experience
- Associate/Full Professor candidates must have a strong record of research in a currently tenured position with a record of current active extramural research support
- Experience in fostering interdisciplinary research initiatives
- Discipline specific teaching experience preferred
