GREENFIELD COMMUNITY COLLEGE
PRESIDENT

The Greenfield Community College Board of Trustees seeks confidential expressions of interest and nominations for the next President of the College. The next President will be a collaborative, visionary, and politically astute leader, who sees this opportunity as a destination and will want to make a long-term commitment to the College and the region.

Greenfield Community College was founded in 1962 with 100 students, who took classes in a combination of buildings housing an elementary school, former factory and remodeled warehouse. Today Greenfield Community College serves approximately 5000 students annually in credit courses and non-credit workshops, with an unduplicated credit enrollment of approximately 1850 students. The College has the highest community college retention and graduation rate in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts with 75 percent of all graduates in professional programs obtaining employment within a year of graduation.

With a service area ranging from southern Vermont/New Hampshire and south through the Connecticut River Valley to Hampden County, the College is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC). In 2014, the College was recognized by the American Association of Community Colleges for its exemplary sustainability initiatives and awarded the Green Genome Award. The award underscores the College's focus on climate change, job security, and social justice through its Sustainable Agriculture and Green Energy (SAGE) Education Center.

Situated in the beautiful and historic Connecticut River Valley of Western Massachusetts, the College's rural location provides a countryside environment amid historic villages, busy towns, and very close proximity to the Five College Consortium.Greenfield is in the heart of a region rich in the arts, cultural, and historical sites.

Greenfield Community College's next President will provide visionary leadership and inspire a team of dedicated and talented faculty, staff, and administrators to provide quality programs and services that meet the needs of the College's students and the communities in the Pioneer Valley of Western Massachusetts and beyond. The President will serve as an effective, politically astute spokesperson; an advocate for the College on the local, state, regional, and national level; will implement creative and innovative strategies to increase funding from existing sources; and will advocate for and develop initiatives to obtain new revenue sources. An earned doctorate coupled with substantial experience relevant to the mission of a comprehensive community college is required. In exceptional circumstances, an earned Master's degree, coupled with substantial experience relevant to the mission of a comprehensive community college and the needs of Greenfield Community College, may satisfy minimum educational requirements.
