Lecturer in Electrical Engineering

Job description

The School of Informatics, Computing, and Cyber Systems invites applications for a lecturer position in the Electrical Engineering program to begin August 2018.  Candidates with broad background spanning all areas of Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, and Engineering Education will be considered, with special preference for candidates holding a doctorate and/or extensive professional engineering experience.

Minimum qualifications are an earned Bachelor’s degree and an earned Master’s or Ph.D. degree, in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field prior to the start date.  Preferred qualifications include teaching experience at the college or university level, demonstrated experience with instructional design, effective pedagogy, and innovative learning methodologies, excellent communication skills, experience working with people from a variety of culturally diverse backgrounds, and experience teaching engineering communication.

Teaching assignments for this position span both lower- and upper-division undergraduate classes and laboratories in the Electrical Engineering program, and English for engineering and science classes. Student mentoring and advising, participation in department-level service, and course and program level assessment activities for accreditation will also be required.  We especially welcome candidates who are interested in supporting international undergraduate students, including EE seniors participating in our 3+1 degree program in collaboration with Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications.
