Job Summary


The Part-Time Teaching Academy Curriculum Specialist acts as the liaison between Miami Dade College (MDC) School of Education (SOE) Teaching academies and their host Miami Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS). The position provides support and works collaboratively to plan and assess curriculum and activities in the teaching academies.


Duties & Responsibilities


  • Collaborates with MDC School of Education leadership and M-DCPS teaching academy to plan curriculum and activities for the teaching academy students
  • Visits the teaching academies on a regular basis to ensure deliverables are met and provides support when necessary
  • Collaborates with MDC faculty and M-DCPS personnel who oversee professional organizations to plan activities
  • Writes reports and prepares presentations that include data analysis on the progress of the teaching academies, including actionable recommendations for continuous improvement
  • Seeks additional academy teaching opportunities
  • Recruits high school students for MDC SOE and M-DCPS teachers for professional development
  • Chronicles teaching academies through videos, photos and artifacts
  • Performs other duties as assigned



Minimum Requirements


  • Bachelor's degree in Education and three (3) years of successful Birth to Grade 12 teaching experience
  • All degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution
  • Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives, and policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of the teaching profession, curriculum development, programs and certifications
  • Working knowledge and experience in mentoring teachers
  • Knowledge of FLDOE curriculum frameworks and MDC dual enrollment policies
  • Possess excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills (Verbal and Written)
  • Ability to travel to multiple M-DCPS schools
  • Possess excellent presentation and data analysis skills
  • Ability to manage and work independently and effectively in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with students, faculty and staff
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include day, evening, and weekend assignments
