Primary Function of Organization Unit: The Institute for Transportation Research and Education (ITRE) is an institutional research center administered by North Carolina State University. Located within the University's visionary Centennial Campus, ITRE conducts surface, water, and air transportation research, while providing professional training and educational opportunities. The Institute serves all 16 statewide campuses in the University of North Carolina (UNC) system and partners with transportation professionals around the globe. The University of North Carolina, Office of the President, designated ITRE in a Memorandum of Understanding to work in partnership with the Technical University of Lisbon in the area of Transportation and Environment. ITRE became a member of the North Carolina Transportation Consortium in 2002, and was the lead institute for the Southeastern Transportation Center (a USDOT University Transportation Center) from 1989-1995. The Institute for Transportation Research and Education (ITRE) is a university-based institute committed to leadership in the study of surface and air transportation issues through fostering analytical thinking, integrating technology in education and research, serving as a catalyst for problem solving, and cultivating professionals and students dedicated to excellence in transportation.
Essential Job Duties: This LTAP Program Manager will manage the training program for NC Local Technical Assistance Program (LTAP). LTAP annually conducts 100-120 training classes for approximately 2,200 local government employees. The Program Manager will manage the planning, scheduling, and conducting said classes in locations across the state. The Program Manager will assist the Director and Assistant Director of LTAP in guiding the program by identifying training topics, creating new training and evaluating the program. Also the Program Manager must delegate and assign duties to the Program Assistant in a logical manner to accomplish tasks in a timely manner. This position will manage LTAP communication by fostering contacts with municipal agencies, planning and creating the quarterly newsletter, promoting classes on the listserv, and maintaining information on the website. This position is responsible for reconciling registration information to provide invoicing information to Finance and monitoring the financial status of registrations. Excellent ability to organize and prioritize tasks is required. Prioritization is especially critical as multiple tasks might need to be completed in very short time frames. Attention to detail and completing tasks in a timely manner is required to keep up with all of the information that will pass through the office. Excellent written and oral communication skills are key.

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education: - Bachelor's degree - Three or more years of experience in an office environment
Necessary Licenses and Certifications: NC driver's license is required within 60 days of hire, and must be maintained as a condition of employment.
