Director of Field Experiences #004768
Posting Information: This is an 11-month, full time appointment. The Director of WCU's Office of Field Experiences (OFE) has the overall responsibility for the placement and supervision of student interns, student teachers, block students and students in early clinical experiences. Related responsibilities include leading a team of OFE staff and serving as liaison for secondary and specialty area majors between the CEAP and the other colleges, approving the assignment of adjunct university supervisors, coordinating all national and state accreditation activities as they relate to the field experiences, teaching one three-semester hour course (or its equivalent) per semester as needed, and collaborating with other professional education activities. The director is also responsible for networking, developing, and maintaining relationships with school leaders to facilitate placements, organize training and support for cooperating teachers and principals, and troubleshoot placements, as needed. The position is physically housed within Suite 201, which includes the Office of Field Experiences as well as the teacher education licensure office, the Office of Assessment, and the Office of Teacher Recruitment, Advising, and Career Support. The purpose of Suite 201 is to offer comprehensive student support services in a central location. The successful candidate will be expected to fully support implementation of the CEAP Strategic Plan, aligned to the university 2020 Plan, and be significantly engaged with public schools in the region. Minimum Training & Experience Requirements: Masters degree from an accredited university. Ability to work effectively with various constituencies and advocate for programs. Evidence of successful leadership experience working with higher education settings and coordinating services between universities and/or public agencies. N.C. (or, eligibility) licensure as a teacher, administrator, or other P12 school professional.
Preferred Qualifications: Evidence of successful report writing related to accreditation at the school, district or university level. Knowledge of school systems in Western North Carolina.
