Assistant Professor of Composition/Music Theory

Job description

The Conservatory seeks a vibrant and creative musician with demonstrated success as a composer and educator. Teach in the areas of music theory, musicianship, and composition across the Conservatory’s curricula. The teaching load may include applied composition and related seminars; theory and musicianship courses; orchestration; analysis; and related topics in the candidate’s areas of expertise, in alignment with Conservatory goals.

Mentor young composers from diverse backgrounds to support the realization of individual educational and career goals.

In consultation with composition and music theory faculty members, provide leadership to facilitate the delivery of a unified approach to music theory and musicianship throughout the curriculum.

Contribute to Conservatory-wide recruiting activities and efforts, to include working collaboratively on the creation of online resources to assist aspiring applicants and admitted students in solidifying their foundational skills and literacy in music theory and musicianship.
