This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, temporary position anticipated to end on or before December 31, 2018, with the possibility of reappointment. This position is designated exempt under FLSA and is not eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.
Student-Athlete Academic Support Services provides a wide variety of professional services and activities ranging from pre-admission guidance to initial eligibility coordination, advising, and academic support through to graduation. The purpose of the program’s services and activities is to assist and support student-athletes in achieving high academic success and personal integrity while progressing toward a degree objective.
Under the general direction of the Senior Associate Athletic Director of Student-Athlete Academic Support Services, the primary responsibilities of the Student-Athlete Services Coordinator include admissions and initial eligibility pre-evaluations of prospective student-athletes and tracking admissions of said students. The incumbent will be the liaison between Enrollment Services and head coaches regarding the admission status of their incoming student-athletes. This person will serve as the primary contact with the NCAA Eligibility Center, providing regular reports on the initial eligibility status of prospective student-athletes to head coaches. The Student-Athlete Services Coordinator will also serve as a point of contact with SDSU’s Certification Officer on campus. Another primary function of this position is to serve as the liaison with the Office of Housing Administration and coordinate prospective and continuing student-athlete housing needs with coaches.

Compensation and Benefits
Starting salary upon appointment not expected to exceed $3,935 per month. CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,935 - $5,595 per month. Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.

Graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration or a job-related field. Additional specialized experience during which the applicant has acquired and successfully applied the knowledge and abilities may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis. Two years of professional experience in one of the student services program areas or in a related field; experience should give evidence of competence and indicate the potential for further growth. A master’s degree in a job-related field may be substituted for one year of the professional experience.
Preferred Qualifications and Specialized Skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and/or similar database programs.
Master’s or post graduate degree in related field with an equivalent of two years’ experience in NCAA compliance, certification, and/or academic support or related field.
Three or more years in NCAA Athletics compliance, certification, and/or academic support if applicant does not have Master’s or post graduate degree.
Knowledge and understanding of CSU and SDSU admission requirements.
Equivalent to two years of progressively responsible professional work experience in admissions.
Ability to evaluate transcripts for admissions and initial eligibility purposes.
Knowledge of NCAA initial eligibility and continuing degree progress requirements.
Ability to work with various constituencies in a professional manner.
