Summary of Duties:
The laboratory of Dr. Mary Paine in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences is seeking a motivated and experienced Postdoctoral Research Associate with a PhD in pharmaceutical sciences or related discipline with an emphasis in pharmacokinetic (PK) and physiologically-based PK (PBPK) modeling and simulation, drug metabolism/ transport, and xenobiotic-drug interactions.

This position will be funded by the NIH Center of Excellence for Natural Product-Drug Interaction Research. The mission of the Center is to provide leadership in the study of natural product-drug interactions, with the ultimate goal of developing Recommended Approaches to determine the clinical relevance of pharmacokinetic interactions between natural products (e.g., herbal supplements and other botanicals) and FDA-approved medications.

Research projects will focus on understanding mechanisms underlying natural product-drug interactions using in vitro (drug metabolism and transport assays), in silico (PBPK modeling and simulation), and in vivo (human clinical studies) methods.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must have a recent PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences or related discipline with an emphasis in pharmacokinetic (PK) and physiologically-based PK (PBPK) modeling and simulation, drug metabolism/ transport, and xenobiotic-drug interactions.

Formal training in the principles and applications of pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics is essential.

Demonstrated experience in the use of PK and PBPK modeling programs (e.g., Phoenix WinNonlin, ADAPT, Simcyp, GastroPlus) is essential.

Experience in the conduct of in vitro ADME assays is essential.

Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential.

Ability to work independently and as an integral part of a team.
