The Board of Trustees of Carl Sandburg College invites inquiries, nominations and applications for its seventh president. Carl Sandburg College is a public community college located in Galesburg, Illinois. The Carl Sandburg College district is very large, covering all or part of 10 counties and almost 3,000 square miles, and it serves more than 2,900 students annually. The College has three locations — its Main Campus in Galesburg, a Branch Campus in Carthage and an Annex located in downtown Galesburg.
The president of Carl Sandburg College reports to a seven-member elected board and is part of the Illinois Community College System. The College is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission under the Open Pathways model, with the next accreditation visit anticipated in the spring of 2021. The Illinois Community College Board just approved the College’s recognition for another five years.
The current president is retiring from the Illinois system and has been with the college for 23 years finishing her eighth year as president.
