Job description

Hollins University is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Director of Admission.

Reporting to the Vice President for Enrollment Management (VP), this position hires, trains, manages, and evaluates seven staff members responsible for recruitment and on-campus admission events.  He/she works with the VP and Director of Recruitment to assess and implement annual communication plans for prospective, inquiring, applying, admitted, and enrolling students.  Additionally, he/she collaborates with the VP and Director of Financial Aid on financial aid leveraging strategies.  This position works with the Director of Recruitment to select and evaluate external partners in support of enrollment initiatives, and to ensure that admission counselors have access to data necessary to effectively manage their outreach efforts.  The director maintains a travel and recruitment territory, reviews applications, and conducts yield activities designed to enroll students.  He/she also manages the travel, on-campus and off-campus event, and office supply budgets.

Successful applicants must have a bachelor’s degree, minimum of five years of progressive admission or closely related experience with at least two years of supervisory experience, commitment to enrolling a diverse student body, Microsoft Office proficiency, ability to organize time and work projects to achieve goals, and a valid United States driver’s license with minimal violations.  Candidates must also have abilities to communicate effectively with diverse groups, both orally and through written work; articulate the benefits and unique experiences of a liberal arts institution for women; work as a member of a team; develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with other campus departments; and work with students.  Applicants must also have ability and willingness to travel within recruitment region via car and plane and ability and willingness to work evening and weekend hours as needed.  Preferred candidates will have a master’s degree and experience in girls’ or women’s education.  Final candidates will be subject to a motor vehicle background check.
