The Department of Political Science and International Studies in the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences invites applications and nominations for the position of Assistant Professor of International Trade. This position will be located on the Statesboro campus.

In January 2017, the University System of Georgia Board of Regents voted to consolidate Armstrong State University and Georgia Southern University. The new, 27,000-student university will be named Georgia Southern University with campuses in Savannah, Statesboro, and Hinesville. Within this setting, the successful applicant will join a department of more than 25 faculty and staff dedicated to excellence in teaching, research, and service. Position Description. Reporting to the Department Chair, the Assistant Professor of International Trade position requires teaching, service, and research responsibilities as well as a terminal degree. A Ph.D. degree in International Studies, Business, Economics, or Political Science with a concentration in International Trade or International Business completed by the position start date (August 1, 2018) is required.

Evidence of excellence in teaching is a must, as the position will require the faculty to teach advanced-level courses on International Trade, as well as introductory-level courses such as Introduction to International Studies and Research Methods in International Trade. The position comes with a 3-3 teaching load and an expectation of academic service in the thriving International Trade program within the Department of Political Science and International Studies, which features two interdisciplinary majors (International Studies and International Trade). The prospective faculty must also be an active scholar, and fulfill the criteria necessary for a tenure track position in their respective academic field of studies. Research and publication work is expected.

The position is a 9-month, tenure-track appointment, and the salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Required Qualifications:
• Ph.D. in International Studies, International Business, Economics, or Political Science with documented evidence of an interdisciplinary focus on international trade finished by August 1, 2018.
• University-level successful teaching experience with a focus on international trade or related disciplines, backed by evidence.
• Existence of successful research and publishing agenda in the area of international trade or related disciplines, backed by evidence.
• Evidence of effective communication skills (in English).
• Willingness to teach via web-based instruction.
• Evidence of commitment to international education with regard to curricular development, student mentoring, and the development of study abroad programs.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States for the duration of employment without assistance from the institution.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience working with a diverse student body.
• Experience overseeing internship programs and other forms of career development for undergraduate students.
• Experience working across disciplines of business, social science, and policy studies.
• Evidence of collegiality and ability to work in a team in projects involving international education
