Primary Function of Organization Unit: Enterprise Application Services (EAS) is in the Office of Information Technology (OIT) division at North Carolina State University. EAS is responsible for the design, implementation, operation, enhancement & maintenance of the University's enterprise business applications. This includes: development, operation & maintenance of all enterprise administrative systems (Advancement, Financials, HR, Portal and Student Information Systems, etc.), configuration management, maintenance, enhancements, and application integration.
Essential Job Duties: The Business Analyst is responsible for developing and maintaining the financial system. This is a business analyst position that focuses on Post Award Contracts and Grants, Billing, and Accounts Receivable and assists in supporting general ledger and asset management. The Business Analyst works with the IT Manager, Project Lead, team members, and functional offices in order to implement advanced and highly complex software solutions with minimal supervision. The Business Analyst will be proficient in both functional business process understanding and advanced technical solutions. The Business Analyst provides technical production support, designs and develops system enhancements and new applications, performs system testing, writes and maintains technical specifications and documentation.
Department Required Skills: Ability to independently, quickly, and efficiently identify and solve technical problems that can impact a large number of customers. Ability to combine strong technical knowledge with a strong understanding of customer requirements to offer customer solutions to problems in a very practical, timely and efficient manner. Strong organizational and communication skills are essential. Thorough understanding of the project development life cycle, including but not limited to application analysis, development, testing, documentation, approval and post migration validation. Attention to detail and ability to form strong relationships between team members, customers, and management is essential.
Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education: Significant business analyst experience in a financial ERP System. Specialization with PeopleSoft general ledger and asset management, accounts receivable, or billing version 9.1 or higher. Experience with post-award grant processing, including knowledge of PeopleSoft contracts, grants, or projects is beneficial but not required.
