Job description

Duties: Reporting to the Dean of Admissions and a member of the office's Senior Management Team, the Vice Dean, Director of Admissions, will have responsibility for planning and executing strategies over the core work of undergraduate student recruitment and enrollment for Penn's four undergraduate schools and specialized programs. The Director will have between 4-6 direct reports and, as a member of the Senior Management Team, will have responsibility for the effective management and professional development of the admissions staff. The Director will implement cost-effective processes to meet University enrollment goals. The Director will also be responsible for managing a defined territory for recruitment, outreach and candidate selection. The Director will educate prospective students, families, college counselors and community-based organizations on educational opportunities available to students of high achievement and promise. The Director will serve as a primary liaison across campus and to professional committees and associations, including The Ivy League, the Consortium on Financing Higher Education (COFHE), the National Association College Admission Counseling (NACAC) and The College Board.

Qualifications: A Master's Degree or more and 7 years to 10 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Progressively responsible experience in admissions, higher education or a related field; previous experience supervising professional level staff; proven experience with data-driven decision-making to inform and measure the most impactful and cost-effective processes to meet the university's enrollment goals and the ability to prioritize projects in a high-volume and timeline-driven process. Familiarity with highly-selective college admissions, recruitment, and the evaluation and selection of college applicants are strongly preferred. A deep familiarity with Penn's Office of Admissions and the University of Pennsylvania undergraduate experience is preferred. Strong communication, public speaking and interpersonal skills are required. The job requires a valid driver's license and the ability to travel and work evenings and weekends as required.

Initial screening of credentials will begin in early March with interviews starting in April.
