Visiting Assistant Professor of Mathematics - One Year Appointment (2018-2019)
Gettysburg College invites applications for a full-time Visiting Assistant Professor position in mathematics for the 2018-2019 academic year. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in one of the mathematical sciences, or have completed all requirements except the dissertation for the degree, by September 2018. A record of excellent teaching, a desire to work in a liberal arts environment, and an active or developing program of mathematical scholarship are essential. Responsibilities for this position include teaching three courses each semester, and additional departmental duties as assigned. The teaching load will most likely include courses from the calculus sequence and, depending on departmental needs and the interests of the successful candidate, may also include differential equations, linear algebra, or introductory statistics. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to influence the mathematics program of an energetic department and to involve students in a variety of mathematical activities outside the classroom.
