Duties: The Wharton Social Impact Initiative (WSII) harnesses Wharton's greatest strengths - the intellectual breadth and research rigor of our faculty; the brilliance, drive and curiosity of our students; and the reach of our alumni and friends - to make Wharton a global center for research and training in impact investing and social impact. Our multidisciplinary work focuses on the use of business strategies to drive social and environmental impact, from the supply and demand for impact investing to social entrepreneurship and corporate environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices. As Communications Manager, you will be responsible for creating, improving, and maintaining content (including reports, articles, newsletters, blogs, and social and traditional media) to achieve WSII's strategic goals of building the evidence base, talent pipeline, and community for impact investing and purpose-driven business. You will be largely responsible for writing content, but will also work with other members of the WSII team to guide, copy edit and publish their work. You will also will support media relations, branding and design projects, and communications collaboration across Wharton and Penn, working with both WSII staff and with external marketing and design consultants.

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree, preferably in communications, marketing or journalism, and 3-5 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience, are required. A portfolio of published articles, blogs or papers, with business writing experience preferred. Excellent verbal and written communications skills for a range of stakeholder groups expected. Demonstrated ability to learn necessary topic related content for accurate copyediting. Ability to communicate and "translate" academic research to a non-academic audience. Professional experience implementing social media plans, producing digital communications, managing website content updates, and managing both digital and print publications. Ability to navigate complex organizational structures and work well independently. Demonstrated interest in social impact. Familiarity with InDesign, Photoshop, and multiple web platforms is preferred. Experience managing contractors preferred. Experience working with or mentoring students a plus. Experience in project management is a plus.
