Job Summary: University Housing Mission Statement: University Housing provides comfortable, affordable and secure on-campus housing options in residential communities where the academic success and personal growth of residents are encouraged and supported. University Housing seeks an individual to serve as Associate Director for Residence Life at the University of Georgia. The successful candidate must have the ability to become an active and engaging member of the department's management team. The primary function of this position is the supervision and leadership of residence life staff serving approximately 7,500 students in 21 traditional halls and apartment style units. In addition, this position oversees the residence life portion of the Family and Graduate Housing operation. The University of Georgia is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer. Minimum Qualifications: Have a master's degree in higher education or a related field Completed a minimum of 7 years full-time experience with demonstrated advancement in residence life/housing or related field 7 years of progressive experience with hiring, training, supervising and evaluating various levels of staff; including but not limited to students, graduate assistants, residence hall directors, administrative assistants. Possess the ability train and guide supervisors with developing a similar skill set.
Preferred Qualifications: * A minimum of 10 years full-time post-masters experience with demonstrated advancement in residence life/housing or related field * Readiness to work in a mission-driven department and possess the ability to articulate the mission to residents, faculty, staff and other stakeholders. * Capacity to foster and maintain an inclusive living and working environments for students and staff members * Willingness to build strong relationships with staff members while maintaining the ability to hold them accountable * Ability to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with various academic, student affairs and community partners * Willingness to learn. Open to personally engaging, and motivating others to engage, in professional development opportunities at various levels; department, campus, local community, state, region and nation * Experience working with budgets, facilities management, renovation projects and strategic planning
