Job Title: Admissions Officer

Status: Full-time

The recruiter shall function under general supervision, establish and administer programs for targeting recruitment and retention of students in our College of Maritime Science program for the admissions program. The recruiter shall serve independently in all areas of territorial management and accountability. The recruiter shall visit schools, yacht clubs and maritime trade shows to make presentations to groups and individuals about opportunities in the maritime industry. The recruiter shall coordinate recruitment efforts and serves as primary point of contact for the assigned territory and internal coordination of university participation in outreach activities

Primary Responsibilities of the Job:

  • Creates and lead recruitment initiatives
  • Develops and maintains close working relationships with key secondary school constituents
  • Visits middle schools, high schools and other community organizations
  • Coordinates and facilitates on-campus and off campus recruiting events (college fairs, job fairs, open houses, career days)
  • Coordinates and conducts tours of the campus to potential students
  • Speaks publicly to individuals and groups
  • Travels on behalf of the college for recruitment and other college related events
  • Creates presentations for recruiting events
  • Creates and distributes monthly mailings
  • Creates application packets
  • Recruits and assists with management for the S/V Fritha Summer Sailing Program
  • Analyzes trends in recruitment programs
  • Creates bi-annual recruitment report
  • Develops strategies for program evaluation
  • Creates, package monitor and distribute resource material for student recruitment programs
  • Maintains up to date customer and student interest logs (i.e. contact dates and additional steps)
  • Ensures that the mission and goals of NMI are integrated into marketing and sales initiatives
  • Coordinates and guides applicants through the Higher Education Admissions process (applications, scholarships, financial assistance)
  • Designs and recommends policies relative to admissions
  • Serves as the Chair of the Board of Admissions
  • Reviews applications and documentation for potential students
  • Coordinates and participates in interviews of potential students
  • Coordinate student orientation
  • Research scholarship opportunities for students
  • Maintains Student Internship Agreements
  • Assists with development and follow-up on student internship programs
  • Oversees assigned work-study students
  • Researches and attends professional development opportunities
  • Embraces and adheres to the Northeast Maritime Institute Quality Management System (QMS)
